Viking Cruises, established in 1997, is a global travel company specializing in river, ocean, and expedition cruises. The company has expanded to a fleet of over 90 vessels, offering voyages on all seven continents.

Fleet Overview:

River Cruises: Viking operates a fleet of modern riverboats, including the award-winning Viking Longships, known for their innovative design and Scandinavian elegance. The company has a river fleet of over 65 river ships with itineraries featuring Europe’s Rhine, Main, Danube, Seine, Rhône, Douro, Moselle, Elbe, Dordogne, Garonne and Gironde Rivers. Viking also offers voyages on Egypt’s Nile River and Southeast Asia’s Mekong River.

Ocean Cruises: The ocean fleet consists of 14 ships, each accommodating approximately 930 guests.

These ships are known for their sleek, Scandinavian design, all-veranda staterooms, and inclusive offerings such as shore excursions, meals, and beverages. Viking Ocean Cruises offers a variety of itineraries, with destinations spanning Europe, the Caribbean, Asia, and more. The company emphasizes cultural enrichment and immersive travel experiences, catering to travelers seeking a refined, destination-focused cruise experience.

Expedition Cruises: Viking’s expedition vessels are designed for polar exploration, offering luxurious experiences in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. In early 2020, Viking announced the creation of the Viking Expeditions division, for which 2 Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris expedition class vessels were built. The first began cruising in January 2022 in Antarctica and the Great Lakes of North America. Viking Polaris debuted in August 2023, traveling to Antarctica and the Arctic. The ships were built by VARD.

Recent Achievements:

In the 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards by Condé Nast Traveler, Viking was rated #1 for Rivers, #1 for Oceans (for ships sized 500 to 2,500 berths), and #1 for Expeditions, marking the first time a travel company has won these three categories in back-to-back years.

Viking Cruises continues to be a leader in the cruise industry, offering destination-focused itineraries and enriching cultural experiences across its diverse fleet. The company offers 176 cruises and expeditions around the world, including the Caribbean, the Baltic and Europe.
